P.O.P. Power of Pink Foundation

Everyone join the P.O.P. (Power of Pink) movement as the Power of Pink Foundation fights to beat this horrible disease known as Breast Cancer that has been affecting a lot of our family members and close friends. P.O.P.! Power of Pink Foundation was founded in June of 2010, by DaChea M. Jones and Lauren N. Dew. Both of these young women have been personally affected by Breast Cancer. DaChea's mother was diagnosed in 2003 and Lauren's aunt in 2004. While these women have beat the disease time and time again, DaChea and Lauren felt that there was a void in their community to help women, men, and the families involved with Breast Cancer deal with the disease while still embracing life along the way.

Their goal is to able to provide a little bit of glam, excitement, and education to help ease the patients, survivors, and family members of those going through such a life changing experience! Not only that, but to support and empower patients, survivors, and family members of those who have been affected by Breast Cancer.

First Event: The 17th Annual Walk to Fight Breast Cancer
When: Saturday October 23rd
Info:The 17th Annual Walk to Fight Breast Cancer will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010. The Walk route along Eisenhower Avenue will accommodate walkers, runners, children, wheelchairs, and strollers. Participants may choose from a 1.5K/3.5K/5K walk or run. Registration begins at 6:30 am. The Walk begins at 8:00 am.

IF YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE REGISTER UNDER THE "P.O.P.! Power of Pink! Foundation" when you sign up, so we are all on the same team!!

All proceeds from the Walk benefit the Alexandria Breast Cancer Walk Fund at Inova Alexandria Hospital, which provides mammograms to uninsured women or to those in financial need. Since the Walk's inception in 1994, over 5,000 women have been helped due to the generous support of sponsors, walkers and their pledges.
